What is a CV?
It is your opportunity to promote yourself to potential employers and work experience providers.
Here at The Key, we can help you put together a CV that showcases your strengths, experience and ambitions.
What do I include on my CV?
A CV should be a clear, uncluttered, easy to read and concise (no more than 2 sides of A4) document that summarises your employment history, skills, abilities and achievements. It should look professional and include relevant information only.
It includes key information such as:
- personal details – name, address, contact phone number and email address.
- personal statement/career objective – a short paragraph detailing who you are, the skills, qualities and experiences you can offer the employer and your career aspirations.
- employment and work/voluntary work experience history
- education, qualifications and training
- key skills/areas of expertise
- hobbies/interests
In today’s challenging job market, there is no such thing as one CV fits all ! It’s a working document that needs to be tailored according to different jobs, training and/or work experience opportunities. It will also change over time.
We can assist in tailoring your CV according to your current situation.
Once you have a basic CV, it can be adapted as needed for different job roles. Remember, the difference between a bad and good CV could be the deciding factor between landing that job interview or not !
